Social Responsibility

We hold yearly philanthropy campaigns. In the past years, we have collaborated with Women’s Bank and the mental health organization MTKL to raise awareness on important social issues, and we have contributed to the causes by donating a part of our sales to the organizations. We have also collaborated with Women’s Circle Finland and Lions Club Finland. We want to be there to support and especially empower women.

Viaminnet jewellery are manufactured in the Helsinki and Uusimaa Association for Visually Impaired, Iiris Pro. We offer work for people who have employment difficulties, such as immigrants or people with disabilities. The centre provides the needed help for the employees in terms of the working environment and to better integrate into the society. Our frequent visits at the production facility foster a strong working relationship with the employees and guarantees healthy and safe working conditions.

Environmental Responsibility

Our aim is to be perfectly in balance with nature when it comes to our design, purchases, logistics and packaging. Viaminnet products are designed in Kruununhaka, Helsinki, and our production centre, Iiris Pro, is a short car drive away from our ambient boutique. All our leather is originated from the EU countries.

We want to encourage people to update their look with accessories instead of buying new clothing each season. A new pair of earrings is a more sustainable way to elevate your regular look to a whole new level. Big, colourful earrings are a true show stopper, the perfect touch to show your individual style.

Material

We use materials that are as soft and light as possible, so that our jewellery is comfortable to use. All the Viaminnet products are designed and produced in Finland. The high-quality of our leather ensures long-lasting wearability, and all our leather comes from the Nordic countries, Germany and Italy. The leather is recycled or byproduct from other industries.

Zero waste is our goal: we aim to use all the material in our production to achieve the lowest impact possible on the environment. When we make our jewellery, we cut the leather carefully to create a unique pattern on the leather that is then used for other products. All our metal hardware is pure steel and nickel free.

ITALIAN LEATHER

Our goat leather originating from Italy is certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG). LWG develops and maintains audit certification standards to assess the environmental performance of leather manufacturing facilities and helps to promote responsible business practices throughout the leather supply chain.
By purchasing certified leather, we can track origins, as well as environmentally responsible practices on the process, from the raw material to the end product. No harmful chemicals are used, and the consumption of water and energy are reduced.

FINNISH LEATHER

Our lamb leather is a byproduct of another industry, and the leather is produced according to the UN Global Compact principles. Our supplier uses a minimal amount of water in their production process. With the use of innovative methods, they have reduced the consumption of water by 48% from the EU estimation of the amount of water required for producing leather.

RECYCLED LEATHER

Our recycled leather is EMAS (the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) certified and awarded with the Leather Standard by OEKO-TEX. EMAS is developed by the European Commission for companies and other organisations to evaluate, report, and improve their environmental performance. The OEKO-TEX certification serves as legally binding verification of successful product certification in all business processes in accordance with LEATHER STANDARD. The leather is made in Germany.
